YouTube online subscription TV service may arrive soon, but what about the UK? (via 9To5Google)

YouTube is said to be making headway on an online television service that doesn’t require a cable subscription. With a launch in the next six to nine months, expected partners include ABC, CBS, and ESPN at this point. It was first reported back in May that the “Unplugged” service would cost under $35 per month.

Exciting and interesting stuff but no indication about how or when this could ever hit the UK market.

We’re still vastly underserved by platforms like the Apple TV over here and it appears that YouTube’s rumoured TV service will also be a very US-centric affair.

I’d love to drop my Sky subscription for an à la carte online offering, but at the moment it feels like the prospect of cutting the cord is some way off on these shores.
